Meetup IBO?

Just an idea that I’ve had for awhile…

I’m looking for feedback if you are inclined to give some and…

If this idea comes to fruition I’ll need some “hands & feet” to help organize this little “brain storm” of mine.

One of the regular marketing rituals I participate in is a weekly “tips club” meeting that I’ve helped organize and run.

Our little group is roughly patterned after the wildly successful “BNI” - Business Networking International.

We call our group “Community Business Builders of Albuquerque”. Here’s the link if you want to see our website.

Our rules are pretty simple.

  • $25 a year in dues (which we give away to charity every year)
  • “Category Specific” (only 1 person in each industry)
  • 75 percent attendance is mandatory to stay in the group (with substitutions allowed)

The idea is to generate leads for each through referrals. When somebody needs health insurance (my category) I want other members of the group to know who I am, like me and trust me enough to refer others that THEY know to me.

Likewise when someone I know mentions Real Estate I refer them to my buddy Jeff Rose or if someone need Acupuncture I refer them to Nanette Hale (she’s been a huge help to my health by the way - but that’s another post).

Our format is simple too...

  • Every week we meet for an hour (plus unofficially 15 minutes before and after)
  • Everybody get 45 seconds to introduce themselves and tell what they do and what a good customer is for them.
  • Each week we have one member give a 5 minute business education tip
  • Each week we have 2 members give a 7 minute overview of their business (on a rotating basis)
  • At the end each week we have 5 to 10 minutes for any member to give quick “thank you’s” for referrals from any other members

So here’s the question….

How could we do that with IBO members once a week?

I have some ideas but I’m genuinely looking for input. Leave a comment if you like and stay tuned. I’ve received so much benefit from this format over the years I’m convinced that a virtual version could be equally successful.

It’s one part referral, one part mastermind, one part practicing business practices.

But enough about what I think.

What do you think?

Bill Bateman (like Batman with an “E” in the middle I frequently tell folks I’m meeting for the 1st time)

Wishing for you what I wish for myself - health - wealth - happiness and the freedom a well run business can provide

PS - Clickfunnels is one of my current business obsessions. If you are interested in becoming a funnel expert - a funnel hacker or a funnel beneficiary - click here - listen to the video and take a 14 day free trial - BUT - call me sometime during the trial and let’s have a conversation
