A week ago here in America we were celebrating our Independence Day.

A week later America is mourning the death of 5 police officers in Dallas and bracing for possible riots in protest of the questionable death of a black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.

When crisis erupts reality is often the victim someone said. So I looked up a bunch of statistics from the US government websites...

  • Last year Police Officers in America killed 990 people. 238 were white - 123 black - 79 Hispanic
  • In 2013 90 percent of blacks were murdered by other blacks
  • In 2013 83 percent of whites were murdered by other whites
  • 12 percent of white Homicide deaths in 2015 were due to police officers
  • 12 percent of Hispanic homicide deaths in 2015 were due to police officers
  • 4 percent of Black homicide deaths in 2015 were due to police officers

Just for perspective here are the causes of death (please forgive me, I’m a life insurance agent) for 2014 in America for all races...

  • Heart disease: 614,348
  • Cancer: 591,699
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 147,101
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 136,053
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 133,103
  • Alzheimer's disease: 93,541
  • Diabetes: 76,488
  • Influenza and pneumonia: 55,227
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 48,146
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 42,773
  • Homicide (murder) 14,827

There are about 322,762,000 Americans today…

3,988,000 were born in 2015 and 2,596,000 died from all causes.

My intention is not to minimize the human tragedies that many American’s are grieving right now, just to give them some perspective.

Statistically the number of police officers shot and killed in the USA is 44% higher than at this time last year. It’s a tough job and an honorable one.

Good salesman know that you sell on emotion. Bad salesman know the same thing. Let’s not get caught up in the emotion of the salespeople who profit from racial divide.

All lives matter - regardless of race or occupation or gender or religion and we need each other.

Just something to think about.

Meanwhile on the IBO platform we have an international membership and audience. There are no differences in race or creed here (although you still can’t post in a few languages...yet :)

Back on January 18, 2014 I started this recurring post because I couldn’t find a list of featured members anywhere and I’d missed a few days on IBO.

It occurred to me that “featured members” were the people I most wanted to associate with and I wanted to know every single one of them - BUT - there wasn’t a source for the data of WHO had been featured each day so…

I created it.

If you feel the same way I do, check back every  week to see who was “featured” each day - but if you miss a week (or 9 weeks) - they are all on my Press Release list...

Each day’s FMOTD profile in this post clicks through to the individual’s profile.

There you can see their traffic numbers, how many times they’ve been featured, when they joined IBO, how many “likes” they’ve received, how many times they have posted on the wall, how many videos and how many press releases they’ve done.

For the week just passed, here is my “review/recap” of the IBO featured members of the day.
