Sometimes the goals we scored in our company are at odds with one of the main reasons for being in the same ... to help our customers.

The Hairstyle Blog Felix I find this story:

The case involved a 13-year-old from a poor village, comes to the big city in search of an 8 year old boy who has traveled with the idea of working to help pay debts incurred by his ailing mother.

The child has no father and has left school to work. The girl who is looking for his master, still a child because the mayor of his town has not found anyone who wants to work as a teacher for so little pay.

The child is lost in the bus station upon arrival and roams the city for three days. She unsuccessfully seeking every possible way, it takes several nights without sleep or eat because it has no money, until someone tells you can try putting an ad on television.

She is someone in the television company and explain your problem to the porter of the door, who tells him that without accreditation can not allow the passage. After several attempts, she tells you that just might solve your problem if you talk to the director, but can not see it does not have accreditation to enter. She tells him to leave and not to bother more. She waits at the door of the company for two days, asking everyone who enters or leaves if he is the director.

The manager learns of the case by another employee and calling the woman at the door, who explains that he has not let him in strict compliance with the standards of their work, and that in his opinion the girl is crazy. The director replied that who is more crazy, a girl who desperately searches for another missing child or a woman who consents to a girl spent two days and one night at the door of the company.

As Felix says, it seems clear that the person should be clear when you need to make decisions and go over guidelines and standards for more than being a strict compliant ...

My question is what goals we make our employees? The business rules are created to set a standard with certain objectives but if the goal is to satisfy our customers then we're getting a little crazy?

Always necessary rules of conduct and performance as our company will maintain a uniform way of acting but if these rules restrict the main objective should make clear that it serves.

The last straw is what Felix tells us about a dramatic case in which an operator of a power company cut off the light of a home for nonpayment of receipt. The problem is that the owner was a woman connected to an electrical medical device kept her alive ... all though he had begged that he did not and had explained the consequences of their action.

The woman died, but he kept scrupulously operator had given instructions ...
