Retirement Is Not an Abstract Concept

What's the ultimate irony in life?

Putting off the future until the future.

It's just so easy to do, and while the reasons sound understandable ...

  • Qualify for Social Security
  • Qualify for Medicaid
  • Enjoy life now while they still can
  • Take care of the kids
  • Take care of the parents

They're still excuses, and they'll be back for revenge when it's probably too late to do much about it.

For the first time since the 1940s, Americans are reaching retirement age in worse financial shape than their parents. At this time, an estimated 10million people older than 65 are still working, a number that's more than doubled since 1985.

It's no surprise to Millennials that they can't expect much assistance from Social Security, either.

The fix isn't exactly a secret. It's simply a matter of financial discipline.

Whenever financial advice is warranted, it's never a bad idea to prevail upon the wisdom of Warren Buffett.

One of the keys to his success is surely his ability to simplify a process. Here's his 5-25 rule to help focus on things that matter:

It's never too late to implement a retirement strategy ... until it is.

Start with a simple plan:

It could well be you're noticing your income and projections aren't getting you where you want to be. If so, the logical next step is considering what to do to generate a second income stream.

Fortunately, that's something that can happen with a mere desktop, laptop, and/or mobile phone.

It could well be that, with determination and diligence, you'll have found the only income set you'll need for the rest of your working days and beyond.

Getting into it can be a gradual process, which allows you a safety net while you're learning your way around cyberspace as an e-commerce entrepreneur.

After comparing your situation to your goals and options, whichever route you choose to achieve them, it's time to take action now. The last thing you want to be is 80 years old with nowhere to turn.

In the 21st century, there's no reason for that to happen anymore.

Life has a way of hitting fast-forward when you're not looking, so this is your time to decide. Take more control over it and be glad you did.
