Are You Attracting Positive or Negative Influences in Your Life?

Published on 7/3/2017

If you watch a pond with ducks you will notice when you throw bread in the water how one duck comes in to nibble at your offering then the others discovering it is something good being fed, come flocking. Playfully toss a rock in the water and they all scatter, and we wonder why.

So let's look at what that is telling us as it relates to our lives.

Are you attracting or distracting into your lives positive or negative influences. The bread or the rock, positive or negative.

Whatever the choice we make we are accountable for our actions

If we wish to attract positive influences in our lives, in our business, we want to, in our thoughts and actions do the things that draw people to us.
If on the other hand we, without thought, or through thought and action, do the things that promote negativity people will move away from us.

This simple analogy shows how we often distract ourselves under the guise of doing something good, then when the results we expect is not forthcoming, we ask ourselves and anyone who will listen... why?

When you’ve been marketing online for a while you’ll be able to see the ‘signs’ when you’re barking up the wrong tree…

… or when you’ve hit a gold mine.

One of the ways to know in advance of any effort is by looking at what you’re putting out into the world to ATTRACT the right sort of business, the right kind of person in your life.

Are you putting out content to attract the right people? Are you creating the right atmosphere that would attract?

Or are you simple throwing rocks into the social media pond hoping to make waves?

There’s a story where a child learned this valuable lesson at the edge of a lake… He threw in a rock and the ducks fluttered away. Upset  he asked his dad..."Why dad?" His dad answered, "son you did not throw in bread to feed the ducks your rocks drove them away."

Consider the analogy about the ducks in the pond and really look at your approach to your business and marketing, your life even. Is your commitment to your business, or relationships, consistently throwing bread or rocks? You might see things differently -- and the results, depending on your choice could prove to be worthwhile.

I’m sure you’ll have something to think about.

So let me divert a bit and share with you an excerpt from the book "Influence"  The psychology of persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini, Ph.D

By the way, I won this book in a former program for best comment of the day.

COMMITMENT IS THE KEY

"Once we realize that the power of consistency is formidable in directing human action, an important practical question immediately arises: How is that force engaged? What produces the click that activates the whirr of the powerful consistency tape? Social psuchologists think they know the answer: commitment. If I can get you to make a commitment (that is, to take a stand, to go on record), I will have set the stage for your automatic and ill-considered consistency with the earlier commitment. Once a stand is taken there is a natural tendency to behave in ways that are stubbornly consistent with the stand."

I appreciate you taking the time to read my PR..Thank you.
