He Healeth the Broken in Heart, and Binds up Their Wounds

For many years there was a company in Denver that had a fine reputation for mending china and glassware.  They could restore it so perfectly you couldn't find where the break had been.

Life is filled with heartaches and sorrow today.  Behind many a smile is a broken heart.  Burdens come, one upon another until we're almost crushed by their weight.  Some beautiful dream you had looked forward to with such hope may have dissipated.  You may be overcome with loneliness.  Your heart may be broken and you cannot understand what has happened.  We are not promised we will have an easy or comfortable life.  Jesus said' "In the world, ye shall have tribulations."  (John 16:33)

But there is Someone Who sees our broken hearts and lovingly understands.  The Lord Jesus is the "Mender of Broken Hearts."  He sees them and is ready to pour His healing balm into them and bind up our wounds.

A cathedral in Europe had a beautiful stained glass window.  During a storm, it was shattered, breaking into many small pieces.  The pieces were carefully gathered up and packed away.

One day a stranger came to the village.  He had heard of the broken window and asked if he might have the pieces.  He said he could restore the window to its former beauty, but he must have all the pieces.  Since the villagers had no use for them, they let him take them.

Nothing was heard from him for months.  Then one day he returned with the window.  After placing it in the cathedral, he invited the people to come and view it.  They gazed in amazement at its loveliness.  No one could tell that it had been broken.  In fact, it was even more beautiful than it had been before.

Today your heart may be broken.  The Lord Jesus can restore it, bringing new beauty out of it, but you must give Him ALL the pieces!
