Rejoice in the Lord Always and Again I Say, Rejoice

Joy is one of the characteristics of a Christian.  This Joy is not displayed by a grin on the face, but a radiance reflecting the peace and confidence of a heart at rest in the Lord.

Paul's writings are full of Joy and rejoicing.  It was real to him, for he experienced it in circumstances which were not conducive to joy.  He wrote Philippians while in prison, yet even there his life was filled with a joy whose source was in the Lord.

Joy is more than laughter.  Laughter can conceal a sad heart, but the Holy Spirit reflects joy from the life of the one who has found Christ to be his sufficiency.  Joy is more than happiness.  Happiness may depend on what happens; joy is dependent not on our circumstances or people, but on Him.

We can rejoice whatever our situation may be, for our Joy is IN THE LORD.  We may try to excuse ourselves by saying, "If you worked with the person I do, you couldn't rejoice."  You may not be able to rejoice in your environment, or with the people with whom you work, or with your particular problem, but you can rejoice in Him Who is the source of this victorious rejoicing.  Real joy doesn't mean the absence of trials and sorrow, but the Joy of the Lord is in the midst of them.

It is possible to rejoice in the Lord at all times and in all places.  It can be constant rejoicing; not just some of the time, not just when we feel like it, not just when the days are bright and sunny, but ALWAYS.  Even when our eyes are flooded with tears, His Joy can fill our hearts.
