Don't Pay For What You Can Get Free! Part 2

My apologies for taking so long to get this post out. My son got through his surgery okay, but has more surgeries ahead. I instead, unexpectedly lost someone else dear to me, a cousin that was born 3 months after me. All of our lives we were very close and he was more of a brother. He had come down with pneumonia and was not strong enough to recover. I will miss him.

Sales is a livelihood with many relationships built on

  • Credibility - The quality of being believable or worthy of trust’
  • Reliability - ‘Performing consistently well
  • Elaboration - there many ways to elaborate, but in sales, ‘It can be defined as adding details or "expanding on" an idea’
  • Accountability - ‘Answerability’
  • Trust - Confident of the Reliance on the integrity, strength and ability of a person, product, service etc ...’
  • Example (s) - A sample of something taken to show what the whole is like’

Once all six are established with your prospect, then the status officially turns to ‘client’ and the long term relationship can begin. The start of the journey began on your first approach and strengthened along the way with good:

  • Communication skills
  • An understanding of their needs
  • Having a solution
  • Consistently going beyond their expectations
  • Providing a value

How do you begin? I’ll share what has worked for me.

On my first approach I never go in with the intent to make a sale that day. I don’t mention any product unless they ask because I want their curiosity and enough of it to where they are asking me questions.

Without being misleading or to vague when they ask, my usual answer is, I specialize in getting the message out for small business, organizations and entrepreneurs. My reason for stopping by today is introduce myself and to give you free marketing material that may bring in some new business for you’

I always want to give the prospect a way out, ‘Is now a good time for you or should I schedule?’ I never just leave the packet. They will never know how they can use the QR Codes in their marketing strategy if the how to and the benefits are never explained.

Something else, is that I never have the packet in my hands … otherwise they will tell you to leave it. Your time is just as valuable as theirs and they need you more than you need them … they just don’t know it yet.

If they can’t give you 10 or 15 minutes of their time then it is a dead end street so move on to someone that is truly interested in putting more on to their bottom line.

I have 3 QR Codes. I usually do the phone Code and URL for the website and have them with me. (See “Don’t Pay For What You Get Free!” for an explanations as to how they can be used.) There are marketing tips on the following page after the QR Code is made on the site

The Virtual Business Card, I offer to do that for them. The questions for the card helps me determine what their needs are for my future sale and it also gives me my reason to come back. I always make sure I get their email address.

In 2 or 3 days, I deliver the Virtual Business Card. Make sure they are using the Codes, answer questions and then in a month or less I follow up with more marketing tips. At times, there is enough interest in what I offer that a sale is made

Once a month I stop in always with something free and I make sure the free site I am giving them does not send out a stream of constant emails.

The ‘Mega List’ is great for those that want a low maintenance list or just starting out with a list. If you use any of these, it is best for you to sign up so that you will be notified and get their information for your list. Some may even be a stream of income for you and they have to opt in on all of them

The first two newsletters that I send to them, I do them separately because I slowly want to introduce my products and start with what I know they need. When they are ready, the sale happens. This is how I do my local’s and I am strictly an internet marketer. I get most of my referrals this way
