Why Online Reviews Are Important To Your Business


“The customers of today are savvy and relentless on their quest for whatever they may be looking for.“


Price may get their attention, but that is only the beginning. By the time they make an actual purchase, they will be well educated on the product or service, well informed about the product or service and armed with reviews and research to back their findings. They will have discussed and compared and will compare once again before it is finally put into their cart.

31% say “they are likely to spend more on a business with excellent reviews”

The reviews are starting to trickle in on my product and service. I intend to break it down and graph it all out as they come in. This will give me the highlights on what areas are important and it will give me a blueprint on what actions I need to take to improve. That 31% would help my bottom line.

With 92% reading reviews, there is no doubt of their importance and that consumers want access to them.

The  Importance Of The The Star Rating

Over 40% will not buy from a business with a rating of less than 3 stars, compared to 8% that will only buy from a business with a 5 star rating.

28% of those surveyed wanted those reviews to be within the last 30 days to be considered in their decision making process. And, that it was important  management replied to the reviews.

How can you get more reviews? Post a reminder at your customer service desk, your public restroom at the bottom of your mirrors at each sink or at each towel dispenser and at each checkout. Online when they check out. Just a simple “How are we doing?”

In Conclusion, when searching for a local business, almost everyone will read the reviews. Your reviews need to be current, no more than 30 days old. Online venues need to update their websites so that reviews can be read and that 30 day rule applies.

The star rating has become an important key to the consumers decision for you to be considered as a business that can be trusted. Once that is established, then you can work on gaining their loyalty, which means repeat business, referrals and more traffic.

No matter what consumers are looking for ... their choices most often are many. It takes a lot more than offering the right product or service at the right price. You must also gain their trust, listen to them and then react. In the end, you gain their loyalty and respect and isn't that what it's really all about?
