Image result for nearby

I am not speaking on behalf of Genusity and in no way is this an official announcement or statement of any kind from Genusity.

I have not had any customers or associates contact me regarding Google’s decision to shut Nearby’s use down. But if that should occur, I stand ready to let them know that they will not be affected by it and it is business as usual.

Genusity had their first international convention In Charlotte, North Carolina over the weekend. When the news broke about Google and Nearby being discontinued, I thought no way will I get an answer. Not on a weekend plus a company convention occurring.

I was not able to attend due to one of my sons being in the hospital again. But, even with the convention I was contacted by one of the Owners within a couple of hours.

I am just an associate and I am not the top dog in sales. Yet in the middle of an important milestone for the company, I was given a few minutes of time by one of the owners themselves.

There are no words to describe the impact on me of those few minutes of reassurance.

Genusity Will Be Here Beyond

There are times, as we all know, that unforeseen forces or actions by others, good or bad ... can change the direction of one's life, many lives, the world or even change the direction of a whole  company. But Google's decision, if not for the foresight of a handful, could have disrupted the small business community as a whole and not just ours, but even the global economy itself.

My colleague at IBO, Spencer Taylor, a competitor, but of which I consider a good friend and have an immense respect for because of his business ethics, is correct in his assessment that Google’s decision will shut some companies down which will in turn affect their customers. Spencer was one of the first to break the story.

Proximity Marketing has been around since 2006, but because of the expense, was used by bigger corporations. In 2017, because of new technology, it was suddenly available at an affordable price for individuals and the small business community.

With the closing of many giant retailers in the last two years, this meant that small business, the true backbone of our economy, could once again become profitable. The problem for most was getting the word out that they even existed.

Traditional advertising was/is too expensive for the small business community ... but even if it were not, our society no longers watches TV or reads the newspaper and this media will soon, as with the radio, become just a memory.

What Avenues Are Left For Brick And Mortars To Get Their Message Out To Potential Customers?

With billions of dollars at stake, social media would like to be the answer. And, why not? They have put the time in, and built their following by providing not just entertainment, but communication around the world for individuals and small business. And the cost for small business is free or is more than fair on the price of paid advertisement with them

But realistically, there has to be more than social media. With that being said, we also don’t want our smartphones becoming like the TV sets of the past with constant commercials. I think that is what Google is trying to prevent from happening and I am all for it.

But on the other hand, the public deserves to know what is available with the option of opting out. Small business needs and deserves an inexpensive  way to provide that knowledge of their products or services to those that either want or need them. Organizations need a way to get their message out.

Proximity Marketing can do exactly that.

Genusity is moving on to a bigger and better platform and will be there taking care of their customers! .

Sometimes change may happen for all of the wrong reasons, but the results end up with stronger companies more focused on providing rather than their bank accounts.

I’ll See You On Coffee Break!

Thank you for stopping by!
