The Criteo Holiday Preview Report for 2018, says that in 2017 "awesome shopping apps”, helpful sales people and digital bots, and faster delivery options meant shoppers were able to research, browse, and buy products everywhere they went.”

Their latest report takes a look at the shopping season of 2017 and of what they expect the trends to be for 2018. If you want to stay tuned into trends, then Criteo is a good one to follow.


1> Most all are predicting that more shoppers will start in September, but that in October online sales will increase significantly. 30 percent of shoppers expect to start early on their shopping compared to previous years of 12 to 16 percent.

2> “In 2017, more than 40 percent of all sales in November and December were made on mobile phones.” The prediction for this year is that number will rise over 50 percent. Using data collected to determine the driven growth of mobile transactions, Criteo states that, “In most regions, for retailers with a “shopping app”, mobile now accounts for more than 50% of online transactions and in-app sales dominate.”

3> We first had Black Friday, then came Cyber Monday. Now we have a Cyber Week 1 (Christmas week) and a Cyber Week 2. (Week after Christmas). There was a hidden gem with week 2 in 2017. Everyone was redeeming their gift cards online while taking advantage of after Christmas sales. So, keep that in mind with your strategy.


In conclusion, Criteo recommends, “This season, think outside the traditional holiday box — offer great deals as early as October, optimize your mobile presence, pay attention to the post-holiday opportunity, and use data to create the best possible customer experiences.”
