Marketing Battle Plan For December

SCORE.org

Here we are approaching December marketing strategy. It is just about everyone's favorite time of the year.  I love to have snow. No matter what the age, what is Christmas morning without snow?

Again, It is a magical time of the year for everyone and expectations are high as always. And, not for just what is under the tree, but for family get togethers. The meal where everyone sits and talks. Memories shared and the laughter.

If you are a small business owner, you are in hope that perhaps you are a part of the tradition. Three, sometime four generations may shop at your brick and mortar.

Since we are still in October, it is not too late to note that two important shopping days are coming up in November. Black Friday in 2016 was a magical one indeed … over 680 million in sales by 3 pm that day. Smartphones as the winner, claiming 50% of the web traffic in sales and with an astounding 40% of all sales were from Smartphones.

The following Cyber Monday was the biggest online day sales in history for the same reasons. So, that does give us a strong hint as to what lies ahead for the coming holiday season.

The base of this month to month battle plan comes from SCORE.org. Offering free business consulting, education and mentoring, SCORE has served America for over 50 years. You will find their suggestions in the light blue and mine in black.

Send out your monthly newsletter early. Get your specials and your sale items out to your customers. Any giveaways or charity drives. Announce what is ahead for next year.

If you have an customizable App with an “Alert Page”, then plan to use it heavily to promote your “App Club” to get new customers and to get current customers to opt in. Send out information as much as you want on your specials and sales exclusively for the Club.

Work your social media plan. Update daily through the holiday period and get your customers in the habit of checking your page.

With your App Club, encourage them to like your media page or to follow you and give them a free cup of coffee or dessert. Or a discount on a purchase offline or online. You can also tie in with another business on promotions with you both promoting the event, yourselves and each other.

** Special Note **

As we plan our holiday strategy, remember the victims of Hurricane Harvey. There are many that have lost their homes and will be in a hotel room over the holidays and may not have a place to cook their meal.

Some we know personally. Many of you know our Associate here, Terri Pattio. She lost her home, all of her belongings, her place of business and everything inside. You would not know of her daily struggles to put it all back together again.

Terri is not a complainer, so many us have no idea what she is going through. Instead, Terri is a doer, a mover and a believer. She wants to relocate … I believe to Austin, Texas. Terri surely needs our prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you for stopping by!
