Getting Started

Are you mobile friendly?

Your website is the front door to your business.  When your site is not mobile friendly it is nearly impossible to read, see, or navigate on a Smartphone screen. Desktop sites are designed to be read on desktop. There are too many words and sometimes the graphics will not load correctly on a Smartphone.

"Google reports that searches take place on mobile devices more than on computers in 10 countries including the U.S. and Japan.

A survey done by Forrester shows that 59% of Smartphone users expects companies to make their websites mobile-friendly.

Google says 61% of users are unlikely to return to a mobile site they had trouble accessing and 40% visit a competitor’s site instead. (McKinsey & Company)"

Can You Be Found?

You don’t want to assume that you are on the first page of every search engine. Why is that so important? Ask yourself, how many times do you continue on to page two?

According to Advanced Web Ranking, 2015, "the first position on Google search results on mobile has a 31.35% click through rate."

For those times that you cannot be found, "51% of smartphone users have discovered a new company or product when conducting a search on their smartphone. (Google, 2015)"

"78% of local-mobile searches result in offline purchases. (Search Engine Land, 2014)

Local searches lead 50% of mobile visitors to visit stores within one day. (Google, 2014)

78% of local-mobile searches result in offline purchases. (Search Engine Land, 2014)"

Social Media

If for no other reason to use Facebook in your marketing strategy here is one good reason why, "Statista for 2016 tells us that Facebook has 1.13 billion daily active users."

If you tapped into just one percent … or even half of a percent of that traffic … how much would you add to your bottom line?

When I first developed my business page on Facebook, there were no tools to work with, except for the share button. The share button is why I developed my page with Facebook.

Now they have all kinds of tools that you can use. So, if you have not spent any time with your page, except for posting, plan half a day to review it.

It won’t take up the whole half a day, but you will want to make changes and implement the changes right away. Then get an idea as to where you want to go with your new found discoveries.

There of course are other social media out there that you should be using that have tremendous benefits and we will take a closer look at them.

In conclusion, these three recommendations are the very basic. There is a lot more to consider just on these three actions, such as content for example and what advertising avenues that you are using.  There are many details or should be to your Plan of Action. (POA)

There are still mobile apps to consider, QR Codes, content and much more

But whatever your strategy is, doing these three basic things can be a very good beginning to tapping into the Smartphone traffic and to the 1.13 billion daily active users on facebook.

There are other small business owners that are writing helpful articles on social media, advertising, custom apps and how to effectively use email. Some have tools that can help you.

I have added some, but there are many out there sharing their expertise. I encourage you to explore IBO.
