“Let's turn the clock back to 1997... Websites were just beginning to appear. Most businesses didn't even have one back in those days. But those that saw and recognized the coming revolution not only outsmarted, they clobbered their competition by being the first in their space to aggressively embrace the internet.

By having a website, by selling their product or services via their internet, and by collecting the names and email addresses of their prospective customers, it was heyday heaven for those early pioneers of the internet”

Now fast forward to the year of 2016. It will forever be remembered as the year of a constant spin of introductions of new technology wonders that came faster and faster and as the dawn of 2017 arrived, we discovered the world had somehow changed right before our very eyes.

Just as in 1997, we find ourselves in the midst of a new revolution, “The Digital Age”. You now must have Social sites, think about Smartphones, Custom Apps and QR Codes. In the mix of it all, you must have good Content, good SEO and mobile friendly websites.

Include excellent customer service, with engagement of your customers via Facebook, QR Codes and a customizable app with the capability of communicating discounts, tips, happenings and sales.

In this year of 2017, you must also greet your visitors with an offering of the ultimate experience with your service, product or even your opportunity through visuals, such as apps, pictures, short videos and storytelling. In the very near future, those visuals may include virtual reality.

We are all aware that we need to revamp our marketing strategy, realizing that 2015 suddenly seems like such a long time ago. Of course, there will be the usual, just as in 1997, that will once again fail to respond and aggressively embrace change. Others will shut their eyes and hope for the best.

We all want to avoid the pitfalls of what occurred during those early years of the internet, when companies took advantage of our ignorance and charged us outrageous prices.

We want to steer clear of those that offered all of those promises of success with our signature locking that guaranteed monthly fee tucked deep inside of their pockets and then quietly leaving town, knowing it would cost too much to break the contract.

Beware. There is some already lying in wait. Ready to pounce upon the first inquiry, with those promises of success once again. But this time you have a choice to arm yourself with enough information to avoid those that just want your hard earned money.

Beware. In this “New Digital Age” the rule of caution still exists.
