You Are The Steward Of Your Life - What Is Your Plan To Be Healthy?

You are the steward of your life.  I know that is contradictory to what you were probably indoctrinated and conditioned to believe. You probably heard many times--get a good education, work hard and do a good job in a good company and the money will follow. Eat the five food groups, and shop with coupons to save money.  In the meantime, get all the vaccinations, take OTC drugs and if OTC drugs don't work, go to the doctor to get prescriptions.
 
However, truth be known you have the freedom and mandate to create a life you truly love living. However,  it’s important to give attention to all six domains of life: mental/emotional health,  physical health, relationships, vocation, time and money freedom;

What is your plan for your health?

Do you wish that you had more energy and vitality, so that you can pursue your goals and dreams more easily?

Are you struggling with mental/emotional and physical symptoms?

As you know, mental/emotional and physical symptoms are incredibly common in the U.S. culture. And no wonder, the World Health Organization survey ranks the U.S. 37th among developed countries for health care effectiveness and efficiency. In fact, nearly half of Americans will be touched by cancer at some point in life. 70% of Americans are overweight or obese.  1 in 10 women die of breast cancer, 1 in 10,000 Chinese women die of breast cancer.  Incredible differences.

At best it delays death, but, what quality of life does one live with a handful of pills that have a long list of negative side effects that require more pills to counteract the first one and the second and third one.

Consider these seven powerful health tips.

1. Avoid all forms of tobacco and vaping 

 Using any type of tobacco puts you on a collision course of causing cancer. Smoking has been linked to various types of cancer — including cancer of the lung, mouth, throat, larynx, pancreas, bladder, cervix and kidney. Chewing tobacco has been linked to cancer of the oral cavity and pancreas. Even if you don't use tobacco, exposure to secondhand smoke increases your risk of lung cancer.

2. Maintain a healthy food plan

Consider these guidelines:
  • Eat Right For Your Blood Type.    Dr. D'Adamo's  Blood Type food plan: the most popular personalized food plan system in the world.   
  • Eat 3 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Base your on your food plan--fruits, vegetables and other foods from plant sources — are the most healthy food items.
  • Avoid processed food in cans, bottles, boxes. 
  • Avoid obesity. Eat lighter and leaner by choosing fewer high-calorie foods, including refined sugars and fat from animal sources.
  • If you choose to drink alcohol, do so only in moderation.The risk of cancer — including cancer of the breast, colon, lung, kidney and liver — increases with the amount of alcohol you drink and the length of time you've been drinking regularly.
  • Avoid processed meat. A report from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the cancer agency of the World Health Organization, concluded that eating processed meat increases the risk of certain types of cancer. Processed meat includes: Spam, Ham, Bacon, Bologna,  Lunch meats—also known as cold cuts, luncheon meats, cooked meats, sliced meats, cold meats and deli meats—are precooked or cured meat which contains toxic ingredients.    
 In addition, women who eat a Mediterranean food plan supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil and mixed nuts reduces the risk of breast cancer. The Mediterranean food focuses mostly on plant-based foods, such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts. People who follow the Mediterranean food plan choose healthy fats, like olive oil, instead of butter and fish instead of red meat.

3. Maintain a healthy weight and physical active

Maintaining a healthy weight lowers the risk of various types of cancer, including cancer of the breast, prostate, lung, colon and kidney.

Physical activity counts, too. In addition to helping you control your weight, physical activity on its own lowers the risk of breast cancer and colon cancer.

Adults who participate in any amount of physical activity gain some health benefits. But for substantial health benefits, strive to get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic physical activity. You can also do a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. As a general goal, include at least 30 minutes of physical activity in your daily routine — and if you can do more, even better.

4. Protect yourself from the sun

Skin cancer is one of the most common kinds of cancer — and one of the most preventable. Use these tips:
  • Avoid midday sun. Stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are strongest.
  • Stay in the shade. When you're outdoors, stay in the shade as much as possible. Sunglasses and a broad-brimmed hat helps, too.
  • Cover exposed areas. Wear tightly woven, loose fitting clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible. Opt for bright or dark colors, which reflect more ultraviolet radiation than pastels or bleached cotton.

The more partners you have in your lifetime, the more likely you are to contract a transmitted infection — such as HIV or HPV. People who have HIV or AIDS have a higher risk of cancer of the anus, liver and lung. HPV is most often associated with cervical cancer, but it also increases the risk of cancer of the anus, penis, throat, vulva and vagina.
  • Don't use street drugs. Street drugs increase the risk of liver cancer, hepatitis and other health risks.
