Building a Buyers List That's Proven

Internet Marketers (like myself) are always talking about the importance of building a list, though we don't always talk about building a buyers list. We tell you over and over again how you have to practice email list building, and that the money you make is more often then not going to come from your list.

The thing that not everyone tells you, though, is that there are two kinds of mailing lists. There are general lists of prospects- people who are probably interested in the niche that you are working in, and who probably were willing to sign up for some sort of free offer. Then there are lists filled with buyers- people who have actually purchased products and services online.

While it's important to build up your list of prospects, building a buyers list is probably going to be a lot more profitable. Here are some list building tips to put you on the right track.

Think about it. If someone has purchased your product, two important things have happened...

First and foremost, they have shown you that they are willing and able to purchase products from you. They are still on your list, so they were probably at least remotely satisfied with what you gave them.

Secondly, they now feel like they're in bed with you. They are no longer just someone who reads your free materials, they are a customer and that becomes their relationship with you. I know it might sound a little abstract, but this shift can make a huge difference.

The great thing is it doesn't take a big purchase for someone to consider themselves your customer- even a small ticket item will do. This is one of the best list building tips you can ever internalize. When they opt in to your e-mail list, consider sending them directly to an offer page for something low priced yet irresistible.

Provide an offer with a ridiculous amount of value for just $1. Once they have paid for it, have them verify their e-mail address. This second inputting of their e-mail will remove them from the first list and put them on the second list- your list of buyers. You don't need to bank on people buying big ticket items when building a buyers list.

When you do this, you will be building two separate mailing lists, one of prospects and one of buyers. If you don't believe me that the buyers will, on average, buy a lot more of what you have to offer, then test your two lists. The difference will be automatic and apparent, and you will never approach email list building the same way ever again.
