What is a Niche?

A niche is a product type that is specialized. Do not get it confused with broad topics. A broad topic may include something general like E-Business and E-Marketing. E-Business and E-Marketing are broad topics as there are many niches in the E-Business and E-Marketing category. These range from Online Surveys, Classified Advertising to Social Media Marketing. Niches require specialized information. The Online Surveys niche's goal is to find customers interested in participating in market research, while Social Media Marketing niche's goal is to teach customers the etiquette of using social media to get more engagement and followers on social media. But they are both part of the E-Business and E-Marketing category or topic.

How Can I find a Profitable Niche?

The best strategy to find a profitable niche is to go to a site like At the magazine production houses thousands on marketing their magazines to their target market. offers a large selection of magazines and areas of interest. To find a profitable niche you must first choose a broad topic area. An internet retail magazine like Internet Retailer Magazine targets the US market, when at the time of writing, is targetting the online marketer's niche of getting ready to make large sales when the holidays are over. This magazine targets seasonal niches as it has the budget and resources to do so.

You might decide that you want to also target the internet retailing niche or even drill down into a more specific niche like the mom's blogging niche. Once you have chosen a broad topic from it is time to move to to select a more exact niche and also to find out if the niche you chose is feasible and there is a big enough affiliate market.

Clickbank is one of the largest digital product marketplaces on the internet and within their marketplace they house more than 25 categories and hundreds of niches. Our trip to was to show you that business is making money from marketing magazine niches and there's money to made for you too.

To get started with Clickbank, type in the url and then click on "Affiliate Marketplace". On the lefthand side of the screen you will see a list of product categories, with some instructions as to how to use the site in the middle column, and a search box above this.

To find a niche, you need to browse the categories and when you find one you like click on it and it will expand displaying a list of niches. If for example you select the E-Business & E-Marketing category, this will expand to display a list of E-Business and E-Marketing niches. And if you select the Affiliate Marketing niche you will find there are many products that are been sold within this niche. If there are many products been sold within this niche, we can conclude this is a profitable niche.

But to ensure that it is a profitable niche it is important to have the data to back this up. And Clickbank provides this data for its affiliates. The way to determine a profitable niche is by the "Gravity" of the product. Every product in the Clickbank Affiliate Marketplace has this placeholder. The higher the gravity is, means that more and more of this product is been sold by affiliates. Not only does the Affiliate Marketing niche have many products on offer for sale but many of the products display a high gravity figure.

To work out if it is profitable this can be determined by other data that Clickbank provides, which includes average $ per sale, pitch plus, and recurring billing. It is recommended to choose a product with at least a $20 average $ per sale commission, a commission of less than $20 and it isn't worth the work to promote. The minimum wage is $700 a week, to make minimum wage you have to sell 35 units. A better example would be if the average $ per sale was $100, then to a least make minimum wage you would only need to sell 7 units. The Pitch Plus icon (found underneath the listing - an upright arrow), represents the product having a sales funnel. When a product indicates that it has a sales funnel you not only earn money on the first sale but from every product in the sales funnel, which means much more profit. If a product offers recurring billing this means you can expect to receive a regular payment from Clickbank every month that the buyer stays enrolled with the product.

Clickbank is not the only digital product marketplace, the other alternative is JV Zoo. The only problem with JV Zoo is that many of the sellers choose to whitelist as to who can promote their products. A lot of big launches are done through JV Zoo and many with extensive sales funnels where you also earn commissions from every product in the funnel.

Clickbank is the best choice for affiliates to find a profitable niche, as only a small number of sellers whitelist who can promote their products. And to sweeten the deal further many of Clickbank's sellers offer their affiliates affiliate tools to assist them with promoting their products. These affiliate tools include solo ads, banners, and graphics, and also extra product information.
