The Benefits of Being Broke

There are none.
Beyond giving you a genuine appreciation of NOT BEING BROKE once you arrive at a more palatable destination, there really are not many benefits to never having money in your pocket.
I can pretend and pontificate, and even philosophize about the inner journey and faith building that accompanies the man with no money. I could talk about how being broke strengthens your character and helps you to see what you are really made of.
But you have heard it all before and I am choosing not to tickle your ear and give you the “every cloud has a silver lining” pitch.
And that is challenging for me because my husband says I ALWAYS look on the bright side.
That has not changed nor am I daunted, doubtful or without hope. I am just choosing to examine the LOSS when it comes to being broke, as opposed to any intangible GAIN.
When you are broke, you are at your rope’s end, feeling like you are out of money, time and solutions. The sense of loss is heavy and ever-present and there seems to be no way out. In a nutshell…

This is What Being Broke Looks Like:

1. Hopelessness. No one seems to be able to help me.
2. Discouragement. I don't see a way out.
3. Solitude. I’m all alone in this struggle – nobody really knows what I’m going through.
4. Frustration. I thought I would be beyond this by now.
5. Shame. I am embarrassed that I cannot provide for my family.
People who succumb to being broke often go all in. There is a complete surrender. Being broke becomes a lifestyle, the fated destiny, and the best option from this angle is to hang around other broke people, commiserating, laughing to keep from crying.
But what if there were another option? What if you could move "broke" from your vocabulary?
What if you decided to take being broke head on? That moment when you realize it is a condition - that in and of itself is a huge step, because conditions come and go. When you make being broke no longer an option, you are setting new boundaries.
I'm challenging you to present broke, with its walking papers. Thousands of people who are tired of being broke, stand in lottery ticket lines all over the country – but the better solution is not in receiving MONEY, but in receiving OPPORTUNITY.
Opportunity is a shovel, a tool to dig your way out, should you get buried again. Money on the other hand, just puts the fire out, on the spot, but does not stick around.
I am so grateful for opportunities to stop being broke – chances to step up to the plate again, and make contact with the ball. I am grateful for the opposing team, the strength to lift the bat, my teammates, and the spectators. All of these entities make for an interesting and passion-filled game.

Stop being broke…

and get in the game – this is where the action is – and we have a spot for you.
May You Hit a Home Run Today,
Coach Kim
PS – Remember, being broke always has been and always will be a choice. Choose to escape the masses. Choose to excel and be more, have more, do more.
