Are Facebook Group Communities Worth Your Time?

Do You Think A Facebook Community Is Good For Business?

A Facebook Community could be a good way to get your business in front of more people.  Could you build a successful Facebook community where you get a lot of engagement and people will want to invite their friends to join also?  I believe that you could if you offered great value inside of the community.  Training, ideas, useful video's, motivation, and many other things.

If done right, you can create raving fans and a loyal following. Why a group over a Fan Page?  Or should you have both? Both for sure as you need a fan page do be able to run ads.

What are some of the things you can do in a group?  There are three types of groups Public which anyone can join (there could be a lot of spam.)  The Secret group has to be invited by a member and Closed has to be invited by a member and admin approved.

Here are some differences:

I belong to quite a few Public Groups and I do go and throw a link in once in a while with very little success at getting any engagement. Most people using those groups do the same thing just throw links in but never look at what is already there.  Have you had any better experiences with these types of groups?

A group built for a specific niche and set to secret or closed can have good results

  1. Customer Engagement
  2. Running Contests
  3. Making offers (not often)
  4. Putting in relevant content to that group
  5. Edifying members when they are doing cool things.
  6. Run a challenge

Some things to remember:

When the group gets too big, be sure to reach out and make some other people admins.

When sharing things with the group, share from your personal page or fan page so it can be shared out of the group and it is not a private setting.

There can be another purpose for a group Syndication.

I have 2 such groups: One is a Bloggers Syndication where you put your blog in for comments and shares. My group, you have to do 2 other blog posts before you put yours in. I have seen some groups where you must do 5 others they all vary. This group has been around for a while and participation varies from week to week.

My second Syndication group is for Fan Pages:  Most of us have been in the group going on 2 years and are very dedicated. You are going to specific fan pages once a day Mon-Fri and leaving a comment. It does help with reach.  Also, those syndicating see what you are offering. We do have a rule of no recruiting within the group.

If you would like to join either of these groups: Bloggers Only or Shouse In The House Syndication request to join and I can approve you. I have been putting my PR’s in the blogging group. After all are these not blog posts?

All in all, I think Private Groups for your business are a great idea.  Do you have a group? What are some of the things you do to keep it relevant and in control?

Remember No Matter What Business You Are In You Need Advertising and This is the best I have found.
