Tools YOU should try - MightyText

Once a new technology rolls over you, if you're not part of the steamroller, you're part of the road.” - Stewart Brand

In 1980 I was starting my 2nd year in the insurance business when I discovered the latest/greatest tool I had ever seen, the fax machine!

Suddenly, I could send a page - OR PAGES! - of information over the phone line to an insurance company that previously I would have to mail and wait days (or weeks) for the information to get from point A (my office) to point B (usually an insurance company that I was looking for a quote from).

It was expensive, 10 to 25 cents a page (when minimum wage was about $3 an hour.)

It was slow. I remember standing by the fax machine for 10 or 15 minutes 2 or 3 times a day (because the early machines jammed so often) and…

I LOVED it. It was SUCH an improvement and…

I was “hooked” on technology.

Fast forward 3 ½ decades and today’s technology is incredible in comparison.

Text based marking is my most recent technological obsession.

I know when I send 100 letters I get 10 people calling me on the phone but it costs me a couple hundred dollars to send the letters (in time/paper/postage)

I know when I send 100 emails I get 2 people who open my email and (maybe) 1 emails me back, but…

I know when I send 100 text messages - 20 - 25 - 30 people text me back (and 1 or 2 call me back).

Right now, text messages are THE most effective way to get to almost any audience and…

I hate texting!

Maybe it’s because I’m 58 years old but my fingers don’t “do” text like my 12 year old son’s fingers do. (Gus IS a genius - he told me recently)…

I took typing in high school (yeah not good), then I taught myself to type when I got my first computer, and know I can “bang out” 70 to 90 words per minute but when my fingers have to “do the walking” (in a text) I’m WAY slower.

Then (ta da) a few weeks ago I found “MightyText”!

It’s synchronizes (syncs) between my Android phone and laptop computer. Then I can TYPE a text instead of fighting my fingers!

(big P'S - IPhone “MightyText” is coming next week) (for you Apple snobs :)

There is a free version and a paid version. Paid version has some nice additional features. I’m a paid version customer.

The paid version is 16 cents a day ($60 a year) and NO I don’t get an affiliate commission - (and neither will you)

BUT - I do get a free month if you upgrade from free to paid! (hooray) BUT that’s not the point…

(my goal is to get a free version for the next 100 years - and after that I might be dead)

SO - Here’s the point…

It’s a freakin great app

“Try it you’ll like it”

Seriously (life is way too short to BS about stuff like this)

Bill Bateman - online seeker - always curious - often confused - sometimes adamant - rarely speechless

PS - IF you have the same amount of A-D-D that I have (you have challenges focusing) you might find the Simpleology platform as helpful as thousands of people have. “To do” lists are great but Simpleology is the tool that opens the list (for me). Time IS life. Get your time back. Try Simpleology
