Daddy's Home

Daddy's Home

As we approach the weekend, fathers everywhere are looking forward in anticipation to spending some quality time with their kids. It's a chance to take little Johnny to his soccer match or little Jessica to her ballet class. Sadly for far too many dad's it is the only time they get to see their offspring during daylight hours due to work commitments which require them to leave the family home in the very early hours of the morning only to return after dark when the kids have gone to bed.

However, some dads have rejected this part-time role of parenting and have managed to establish a more permanent presence in the home. The term 'house husband' or 'stay at home dad' is often used to describe a man who chooses to take care of the kids full time whilst mum goes out to work. Over the years 'stay at home dads' have become more common place but is still regarded in a negative light by some. The out dated old fashioned belief that a man’s place is outside of the home, working long hours, long distance, burnt out and missing the most important years of his child’s early life, still prevails to some degree. Many men express their regret in not being around enough because they were too busy fulfilling the role of the bread winner at the expense of quality family life.

I recently read that a child’s self-esteem is directly affected by how much quality time they spent with their father or a strong male father figure. Surely this reaffirms the importance of a father’s presence and negates the idea that a dad’s domain is long periods away from the home. Many fathers would love to play a more active role in shaping the lives of their children, and that involves physically being there.

We need to be more open minded about a man’s role in the family unit, and not have such outdated restricted ideas. For some women, it makes more financial sense for them to return to work and for the father to stay home. This decision is often influenced by who generates more income or has a more senior role in their perspective jobs. However, this is not a ‘win win’ situation for either parent as one parent will always miss out on witnessing those early mile stones in their child’s life. Having the flexibility of choice is something all parents welcome, and in the changing landscape of the economy and the job market this has become even more important.

So what's the alternative?

Working from home is something many employees would jump at if they had the choice. It’s not for everyone but it has its benefits. However, the ideal scenario of working from home is to be completely in control of your time and indeed how much income you can generate. There is no employer in this equation because having time and money freedom is not possible to attain with a job.

Generating a passive/residual income is the only way to truly make money AND own your time. This can be achieved through various opportunities within the online industry of Internet based businesses. It’s an exciting and very real option for anyone who has a desire to generate a sustainable income and have a life. Making money online is not exclusive to just a few; it is an option available to us all. If you are a dad who has struggled to maintain family life and work commitments, then it's time to rethink how you are currently operating. Stop compromising on your family and the quality of life that you have.

Dare to do something different to get different results!
