Bring Your Own Sunshine.

"Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine".

~ Anthony J. D'Angelo

It's been quite cold recently here in the UK, like most of the northern hemisphere I'm sure. And with the chill in the air, my thoughts have often drifted to the delights of a warmer climate. I long to feel the heat of the sun on my face again and bask in its reassuring warmth. However, after reading the quote above it got me thinking about the weather and my perspective of it. The quote is an excellent reminder that wherever we are and whatever the weather, we can CHOOSE to respond to our surroundings in a positive way.

In short, location and weather are almost irrelevant in the big picture of things. It's what we bring into the mix that really counts. There's no guarantee that the climate will be agreeable, even when we have made the effort of traveling far to find it. But what we can guarantee is what we bring with us on the journey. The sunshine that's referred to in the quote represents having a positive disposition. It's about maintaining positive energy regardless of external circumstances.

If you were to travel and had to pack a case, you may take the trouble to write a travel checklist of all the essential items you would not be without, for example: toiletries, clothing, passport and drivers licence, reservation details etc. But have you ever stopped to think about what 'energy' you are bringing on a trip? Whether we are aware of it or not, along with all our essentials we are also packing either 'positive energy' or 'negative energy'. Somehow this never seems to make it on the important checklist, when in fact it is the most important thing we are taking with us.

Bringing our own sunshine wherever we go and whatever the weather is a recipe for living a rich and fulfilling life. When we are able to look on the bright side of things it creates an expectation of more pleasing things to come.
Regardless of where we are, imagine having the sun shine from within. This internal sunshine of a positive mindset permeates through to everything that we do. We can be a positive radiant light for others too and lift their spirits when they are in our presence. It's a choice; choose to bring your own sunshine and light up the world around you.
