Be Grateful When Your Mood is High, Graceful When it is Low.

Be Grateful When Your Mood is High, Graceful When it is Low.

How easy it is to be grateful when things are going to plan and your mood is high. Life seems to be on 'your side' conspiring in your favour and you can clearly see all that there is to be thankful for. But expressing gratitude in times of trouble when your mood is low can be a major challenge.

"The trick is to be grateful when your mood is high and graceful when it is low."

~Richard Carlson

The above quote shares a very important and powerful message. It encourages us to be grateful in the good times and graceful when things are not so good. Sure, it takes little effort to give recognition and appreciation for the blessings we receive when our mood is high, but when in the midst of a turbulent time we experience a disconnect with what we consider to be 'good' for us or for a greater good. It's hard to be in a 'good place' filled with gratitude when you are going through pain, right?

Being grateful during these low episodes is a stretch for most people however, being graceful is something we can all strive for. To be graceful is to be poised, controlled, peaceful and accepting (to a degree) of a situation. We don't have to like where we are and what we're going through BUT by being graceful; we remain in control of how we handle that situation.

Here's a saying from Mr Bob Proctor which has served me well and helped to bring grace into the most challenging of situations.

"Whatever happens, it is what it is.
It will either control you or, you will control it.
Harvest the good, forgive all of the rest."

~ Bob Proctor

Being graceful is about having faith that all will be well in the end. Whilst gratefulness celebrates the good, gracefulness teaches us to 'see the good' in all situations.
If you chose to be truly grateful when your mood is high and graceful when it is low, happiness and fulfilment will be yours in good times and the bad, because you make it so.
