 I Dwell in Possibility

If I were to ask you, "Where do you live?" You would probably answer by stating the country, city, or town that you inhabit. You may even go as far as to describe the climate and the scenery that surrounds you. But apart from the physical place where you dwell, there is also the question of where you dwell mentally.

"I dwell in possibility"

~ Emily Dickinson

The quote above is a simple yet extremely powerful expression. But what does it mean to dwell in possibility? To dwell in possibility is to eat, sleep and function from day to day with the mindset of 'anything and everything is possible' and not only is it possible but highly probable. This mindset remains in a creative state, constantly seeking to transform a 'what if' into physical reality.

Most people do not dwell in possibility, choosing instead to reside in a place of impossibility. Rather than focusing on 'what could be', they are stuck in the reality of 'what is'. But here's the thing, the place that we dwell mentally dictates where we live physically. If you have developed the belief that there is not enough resources in the world, not enough love, money and food for everyone then your mentality of lack will not allow you to explore the realm of possibilities. Possibility thinking requires the mind to be open to all things seen and unseen.

If you mentally dwell in a place where you call impossibility your home, then it's time to move on out. Impossibility is the four walls that create a prison for the mind and will prevent you from truly living life to the full. Life should not be about limitation but about liberation and freedom instead.

How different would your life be if you took up permanent residence in a place of possibility? We all face doubts from time to time and they have a nasty habit of keeping us stuck in that place called 'Impossibility Avenue,' right next to a street called 'You can’t do it'.
However, we do have a choice as to where we live. Our mindset is completely the domain WE choose to settle down in. So when we make the choice to dwell in possibility, life responds to us kindly. Our neighbourhood (the mindset of the people around us) will also reflect our possibility thinking. Positive thinkers attract other positive possibility thinkers and together WE CAN do anything!
